Brief
Maddison were selected to assist development of Vivacta's piezofilm diagnostics device where there is a compelling need for rapid diagnosis in both acute care as well as chronic disease management settings. The first application is for thyroid diagnosis in doctors offices and clinics. The challenge was to design and develop a quick, simple, portable, point of care diagnostic test with a single use, disposable cartridge to act as the whole blood collection device.

Outcome
Maddison worked closely with Vivacta scientists throughout the entire development process. Generating concepts, producing test rigs and prototypes for evaluating both ergonomics and internal mechanisms, including the cartridge's microfluidics that were central to the product's development. Detailed design of parts for manufacture, user interface diagrams and screen graphics for the device were also generated.
